Kindergarten Enrichment

We are excited to offer a full day Kindergarten Enrichment for the 2026-2027 school year!

All day Tuesday and Alternating Wednesdays 9:00am-3:00pm or all day Thursday and Alternating Wednesdays 9:00am-3:00pm

The NHPEC Kindergarten Enrichment program is designed to complement students’ primary kindergarten experience. Grounded in the Common Core State Standards and Ohio’s Kindergarten Learning Standards, it provides meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that enrich and extend classroom instruction—helping students grow academically, socially, and creatively in a small, supportive class setting.

Program Distinctions:

  • Comprehensive instruction in Literacy, Phonics, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies

  • Strong emphasis on literacy development and the Science of Reading instruction

  • Individualized instruction supported by small class sizes and two teachers

  • Interactive smartboard technology in the classroom

  • Access to Chromebooks for every student

  • Weekly specials including Art, Music, Bible,  and Physical Education

 

Students will:

  • Engage in activities that promote reading comprehension and fluency.

  • Engage in multi-sensory activities that promote reading skills, including phonological awareness, phonics, and vocabulary development.

  • Discuss reactions to literature and develop an understanding of story elements such as character, setting, plot, and problem and solution.

  • Participate in shared reading and writing activities.

  • Participate in writing activities such as journaling and response to literature.

  • Practice writing a 5-star sentence.

  • Engage in explorations that promote number sense, mathematical thinking, and mathematical terms.

  • Develop an understanding of money, addition, subtraction, and measurement.

  • Use number lines, number grids, and manipulatives to practice skip-counting and gain a greater understanding of number patterns.
