Sample of Our Day

New Hope Preschool’s daily schedule is flexible enough to provide adaptability when necessary but structured enough to provide predictability for the children.  We want them to view their school as a safe and comfortable place, where they know what to expect and when to expect it.  A typical day would include:

9:00 – 9:20 | ARRIVAL AND FREE CHOICE

Children wash their hands upon arrival, “sign in”, and then have opportunities for peer interaction through dramatic play, block play, sensory table, art and table top choices.

9:20 – 9:30 | CIRCLE TIME

Greeting, prayer, songs, finger plays, children say the pledge, choose jobs, and talk about the calendar and weather.

9:30 – 10:10 | SMALL GROUP TIME

Focus on academic skills including language & literacy, math, science, social studies, communication and fine & gross motor skills.

10:10 - 10:25 | FREE CHOICE TIME

Opportunities for exploring all activities in the classroom: art, bible felt stories, manipulatives, dramatic play, sensory experiences and science.

10:25 – 10:30 | CLEAN-UP TIME

All children participate to clean up the classroom.

10:30 – 10:55 | LARGE MOTOR TIME

Outdoor large motor if weather is 32° or above and dry/indoor play

10:55 – 11:10 | HEALTHY CHOICE SNACK

Children say a prayer and then will receive a nut free healthy snack provided by parents on a rotating schedule.

11:10 – 11:20 | STORY TIME

Children choose stories from the library and our christian literacy corner.

11:20 – 11:30 | CIRCLE TIME

Finger plays, movement, story, calendar, weather chart, closing song/prayer and dismissal. (Times adjusted for afternoon schedules)
